Wherever Dave goes, people refer to him as 'The Book Man,' hence, the name of the store. His passion and lifelong love affair with books will be obvious to you right away! A self-taught reader, he has been voraciously consuming books since the age of four.  He loves nothing more than being surrounded by books!

Co-Owner, Manager

With nearly 21 years of experience at The Book Man, Amber truly knows the store inside and out. She is a firm believer in both creating, and participating in local culture, and truly loves what she does.  Amber is the driving force behind the internet and mail order side of the business, and recently opened a second branch of The Book Man in Abbotsford.

Window Dresser

Sara is an incredible young lady who has a true passion for books, people, and (lucky for us) making beautiful displays.  Our front window and store displays are kept looking sharp under her watchful eye!

Linda
Customer Service

Linda has an extraordinary knowledge of fantasy novels, and is a wonderful, stable, peaceful soul. She is one of the hardest workers we have ever met. Linda makes essential oils and natural products on the side... if you're interested, let her know!

Amanda (and OhhGrr)

Customer Service

Amanda found her place at The Book Man quite easily.  Her obsession to keep the store tidy and organized, her zany humour and her long time love affair with books make her a perfect fit for our store.

Natilee
Internet Sales

Natilee is our most recent addition to our staff at The Book Man.  After a month of learning the ropes up front, we brought her to her new "home" in the data entry department.  Already she is making herself indispensible with her helpful attitude, sunny personality and sense of humour.

Inventory Management &
Book Lister

Emily is a multi-tasker-extraordinaire! She sorts and inventories all of our new stock, enters them into our book software, and helps process internet orders. She is very involved with community theatre, both acting, and directing some very entertaining plays. She talks to herself a lot, but we don't mind, as she's very, very funny.

Harry
Head of Shipping

We are so happy to have Harry here! He is a true innovator, always improving our working environment and taking care of so many little extras that keep the bookstore running smoothly. His quirky sense of humour, and penchant for giving us treats has us saying themantra, "We love Harry" pretty much every day!

We're so glad he's here!  Most of you won't have the pleasure of meeting Harry, as he's in our back office packing books for our bi-weekly mail outs.

Amanda
Head of Internet Orders

Amanda is back from her second maternity leave, with a beautiful baby girl off to a great start in life.  She's back finding and processing our customer's on-line orders, and giving us all "the look" when she's properly fed up with our shenanigans in the office.  We missed her so much, and are so glad she's back "home

Carissa
Customer Service, Abbotsford Branch

Seen on the left in this picture, Carissa is one of our more recent additions to The Book Man staff. She is chiefly found out in our Abbotsford branch, sharing her passion for books, humour and Gatsby the Cat with our customers!  She has an incredible memory for people, books, and life in general.  This results in awesomely hilarious situations such as her seeing a regular from her last job (Starbucks) and saying, "Half Sweet Peppermint Mocha!"

Mary
Project Coordinator

Mary is responsible for lots of behind the scenes work at the store. Her projects keep our store running smoothly. Her organizational skills are unparalleled, and she brings a whip-smart mind honed through years of teaching, higher education, setting up reading programs, traveling, living abroad, and even fighting in the Civil Rights movement down in the States.

Buck
Custodial Engineer

Buck keeps our store nice and clean, and used to work in the retail part of our store as well. He's been with us for almost a decade.  He's an extremely talented stone sculptor, and now has his own janitorial company.

Ryan
Bookscout

While Ryan has moved to Vancouver, he has stayed on in a part time capacity as book scout, and record pricer for The Book Man. You may also see him around the store during Holidays!
