Tell us about your favourite pet.

I have two ridiculous Shiba Inus. Foxy dogs, they act more like cats than the majority of their canine companions and both come keep us (noisy and crazy) company at The Book Man during the week.

What is your favourite title/author. Tell us a bit about it/them.

While my all time favourite author is John Steinbeck, I have recently fallen in love with Ann Patchett. She has this crip, engaging, gorgeous grasp of life and the deeper meanings in the simplest of moments that has me utterly captivated. Bel Canto is lovely to delve into, but all of her work is wonderful.

What does reading mean to you?

In true form with my Riot Grrl roots - reading = power. Literacy and success in our society go hand in hand. I have lived a thousand lives untouched by my flesh through fiction (for example - I have lived through the Great Fire of England and flown to Mars several times), and picked up countless new skills from non-fiction (example - The day I read about how turn a raw eggplant into something edible and delicious!)

What are your hobbies?

Knitting, yoga, reading, journalling, working out, drinking wine, cooking, money management, self evolution.

Something that your mom taught you that has been invaluable to you.

When you're pouring things that have a tendency to spill (ie - sugar, rice or spices) do so over the sink.
