What gives your life the most meaning?
The bookstore, and my family.
What book do you like recommending the most, and why?
The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay. This is the story of a young man's coming of age in South Africa during the Second World War. The characters you meet will stay in your mind forever.
What does reading mean to you?
Everything. When everything else is going wrong, a book with a good story will always make me feel better. I've tried to bring this feeling to my children and to the children of other people. Hopefully I was succesful.
What determines a person's fate in this world?
What you think, what you read, what you experience and the effort that you put in.
What's your favourite tree/flower/plant?
Tulip tree or dahlia. Tulip trees are the most amazing, especially when they are in flower. The flowers have a very elusive scent, and the tree is so big. I chose dahlias because of the extreme range of colours, shapes and sizes; just phenomenal!
If you had to pick one word to describe yourself, what would it be?
Hardworking.
